Al-Khazraji, in his book نفس الصباح في غريب القرآن وناسخه ومنسوخه, volume 2, page 625, states that

If so, it is erroneous because it assumes that "shirk" (associating others with God in worship) is among infractions (ذنوب). As Sheikh Sha`raawi, may God bless his soul, explained it: shirk is not an infraction. An infraction is violating God's commands
after one has accepted Him as the only God.
