Quote:
{40:10} Indeed, those who disbelieve will be addressed, "The hatred of God for you was [even] greater than your hatred of yourselves [this Day in Hell] when you were invited to faith, but you refused."
The addition of "for you" above is interpretive. The Arabic text says "the loathing of God" and does not specify further. That can mean loathing from God to them or it can mean loathing from them to God. So, I suggest,
{40:10} Verily, those who disbelieve will be addressed, "The loathing of God is bigger than your loathing of yourselves when you were invited to faith, but you disbelieved."Quote:
{40:11} They will say, "Our Lord, You made us lifeless twice and gave us life twice, and we have confessed our sins. So is there to an exit any way?"
I suggest,
{40:11} They will say, "Our Lord, You deadened us twice and livened us twice, and we have confessed our sins. So is there to an exit any way?"Quote:
{40:12} [They will be told], "That is because, when God was called upon alone, you disbelieved; but if others were associated with Him, you believed. So the judgement is with God, the Most High, the Grand."
I suggest,
{40:12} [They will be told], "That is because, when God was called upon alone, you disbelieved; but if He is associated with [in worship], you believed. So the judgment is for God, the High, the Vast."
