{2:193} Fight them until there is no [more] fitnah and [until] worship is [acknowledged to be] for God. But if they cease, then there is to be no aggression except against the oppressors.
I'd rather translate "Fitna" instead of transliterate it. "Persecution" is a proper translation.
The Arabic says "religion" where the translation says "worship." I like to stick to the Arabic words. So, I suggest,
{2:193} Fight them until there is no persecution and the religion is for God [alone]. If they cease, then there is to be no aggression except against the oppressors. It is also possible that
حتى means "so that," which would then cause the translation to be: "Fight them so that there will be no persecution..."
Quote:
{2:195} And spend in the way of God and do not throw [yourselves] with your [own] hands into destruction [by refraining]. And do good; indeed, God loves the doers of good.
The interjection, "by refraining", is an interpretation. We don't want to impose any interpretation in this project, so I'd leave it out.
أحسنوا means more than "do good," it means "do beautiful things!" I'd translate it "be benevolent" and
المحسنين, as I did before, to benefactors.
