Quote:
{3:52} But when Jesus felt [persistence in] disbelief from them, he said, "Who are my supporters for [the cause of] God?" The disciples said," We are supporters for God. We have believed in God and testify that we are Muslims [submitting to Him].
I see no reason for the first two interjections and the last one is an explanatory note so I'd put in parentheses, i.e.,
{3:52} Then once Jesus felt disbelief from them, he said, "Who are my supporters for God?" Said the disciples,"We are the supporters for God. We have believed in God and bear you witness that we are Muslims (submitting to Him)."Quote:
{3:53} Our Lord, we have believed in what You revealed and have followed the messenger Jesus, so register us among the witnesses [to truth]."
The name of Jesus is not mentioned in the Arabic. I suggest,
{3:53} "Our Lord, we have believed in what You sent down and followed the messenger, so write us among the witnesses."Quote:
{3:54} And the disbelievers planned, but God planned. And God is the best of planners.
The Arabic does not name the disbelievers, so it should be an interjection, i.e.,
{3:54} And [the disbelievers] schemed (against Jesus), and God schemed (to save Jesus). And God is the best of schemers.
