Quote:
{5:14} And from those who say, "We are Christians" We took their covenant; but they forgot a portion of that of which they were reminded. So We caused among them animosity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection. And God is going to inform them about what they used to do.
The Arabic does not say "used to do," it says "used to make." The difference is subtle or minor, I know, but these are still two different verbs.
I suggest,
{5:14} And from those who said, "We are Christians" We took their covenant; but they forgot a portion of what they were reminded of. So We tempted between them enmity and acrimony until the Day of Resurrection. And God will inform them about what they used to fabricate.Quote:
{5:15} O People of the Scripture, there has come to you Our Messenger making clear to you much of what you used to conceal of the Scripture and overlooking much. There has come to you from God a light and a clear Book.
I suggest,
{5:15} O People of the Book, there has come to you Our Messenger clarifying to you much of what you have been suppressing of the Book and disregarding much. There has certainly come to you from God a light and a clear Book.Quote:
{5:16} By which God guides those who pursue His pleasure to the ways of peace and brings them out from darknesses into the light, by His permission, and guides them to a straight path.
I suggest,
{5:16} God guides thereby those who have pursued His approval to the venues of peace and brings them out from darknesses into the light, by His permission, and guides them to a straight path.
