Quote:
{7:148} And the people of Moses made, after [his departure], from their ornaments a calf - an image having a lowing sound. Did they not see that it could neither speak to them nor guide them to a way? They took it [for worship], and they were wrongdoers.

"Image" is a technically correct translation of جسدا, but the word has come to mean a drawing or painting in the minds of most people today, while what is meant here is "in body only", i.e., lifeless. God is qualifying the calf as being not a creation but a sculpture. I suggest,

{7:148} And the people of Moses took for themselves [for worship], after him (his departure for God's appointment), from their ornaments, a calf - a lifeless body - having a mooing sound. Did they not see that it does not speak to them nor guide them to a way? They took it for themselves, and they were wrongdoers.

Quote:
{7:149} And when regret overcame them and they saw that they had gone astray, they said, "If our Lord does not have mercy upon us and forgive us, we will surely be among the losers."

I suggest,
{7:149} And when it was dropped into their hands (regret overcame them) and they saw that they had strayed, they said, "Surely if our Lord does not have mercy on us and forgive us, we will surely be among the losers."

Quote:
{7:150} And when Moses returned to his people, angry and grieved, he said, "How wretched is that by which you have replaced me after [my departure]. Were you impatient over the matter of your Lord?" And he threw down the tablets and seized his brother by [the hair of] his head, pulling him toward him. [Aaron] said, "O son of my mother, indeed the people oppressed me and were about to kill me, so let not the enemies rejoice over me and do not place me among the wrongdoing people."

I suggest,
{7:150} And when Moses returned to his people, angry, lugubrious, he said, "What a wretched way you took charge after me! Did you [want to] hurry the command of your Lord?" And he threw the tablets and took of his brother's head pulling him toward him. [Aaron] said, "O son of [my] mother, verily, the people regarded me as weak and were about to kill me, so do not let gloat over me the enemies and do not put me with the wrongdoing folk."

Quote:
{7:151} [Moses] said, "My Lord, forgive me and my brother and admit us into Your mercy, for You are the most merciful of the merciful."

I suggest,
{7:151} [Moses] said, "Lord, forgive me and my brother and admit us into Your mercy; and You are the most merciful of the merciful."
