Quote:
{7:187} They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the Hour: when is its arrival? Say, "Its knowledge is only with my Lord. None will reveal its time except Him. It lays heavily upon the heavens and the earth. It will not come upon you except unexpectedly." They ask you as if you are familiar with it. Say, "Its knowledge is only with God, but most of the people do not know."
Pickthall and Asad caught the meaning of
يجليها لوقتها. I suggest,
{7:187} They ask you about the Hour [of resurrection]: how far out is its docking (arrival)? Say, "Verily, its knowledge is only with my Lord. None can reveal it at its time but He. It has laid heavily in the heavens and the earth. It does not come upon you but abruptly." They ask you as if you are trailing it. Say, "Verily, its knowledge is only with God, but most people do not know."Quote:
{7:188} Say, "I hold not for myself [the power of] benefit or harm, except what God has willed. And if I knew the unseen, I could have acquired much wealth, and no harm would have touched me. I am not except a warner and a bringer of good tidings to a people who believe."
I suggest,
{7:188} Say, "I do not have power to bring to myself benefit or harm, except what God has willed. And if I have been knowing the Beyond, I would surely have amassed of goodness and would not have touched me [any] displeasure. I am but a forewarner and a herald of glad tidings to a folk who believe."
