Quote:
{6:141} And He it is who causes gardens to grow, [both] trellised and untrellised, and palm trees and crops of different [kinds of] food and olives and pomegranates, similar and dissimilar. Eat of [each of] its fruit when it yields and give its due [zakah] on the day of its harvest. And be not excessive. Indeed, He does not like those who commit excess.

I suggest,
{6:141} And it is He who has initiated gardens, trellised and untrellised, and palm trees and plants of different esculents, and olives and pomegranates, similar and not similar. Eat of [each of] its fruit when it has come to fruition and give its due [alms] on the day of its harvest. And do not exceed. Verily, He does not like the excessive.

Quote:
{6:142} And of the grazing livestock are carriers [of burdens] and those [too] small. Eat of what God has provided for you and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.

Just about all translations of فرشا interpreted it as "for slaughter." I don't quite understand why. The word means "bed spreads" or "throws." Certainly, much of the bed spreads comes from animals. I suppose the interpretation is influenced by the following sentence which refers to eating. However, I like to stick to the linguistic meaning of words. I think this verse simply itemizes some of the utilities of livestock, other than their meat, which are also signs and gifts from God.

I suggest,
{6:142} And of livestock are carriers and beddings. Eat of what God has provided you and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Verily, he is to you a clear enemy.
