Quote:
{5:6} O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer, wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows and wipe over your heads and wash your feet to the ankles. And if you are in a state of janabah, then purify yourselves. But if you are ill or on a journey or one of you comes from the place of relieving himself or you have contacted women and do not find water, then seek clean earth and wipe over your faces and hands with it. God does not intend to make difficulty for you, but He intends to purify you and complete His favor upon you that you may be grateful.

The Arabic does not say "and wash your feet," it says "and your feet." By virtue of conjugation, "your feet" is added to "your faces and your forearms," so the translation is correct, or is added to "a part of your heads", in which case only wiping is necessary. Therefore, to be faithful to the Arabic text, I suggest that "wash" in "and wash your feet" be removed.

We talked before about the transliteration "janabah." I am opposed to transliteration except when absolutely necessary and even then it must be explained to the unfamiliar reader. Something like, "if you are soiled [from ejaculation]".

I suggest,
{5:6} O you who have believed, when you have risen to [perform] the prayer, then wash your faces and your hands to the elbows and wipe a bit of your heads. And your feet to the two heels. And if you were soiled [from ejaculation], then purify yourselves [by bathing]. But if you were ill or on a journey or one of you comes from the deep ditch (rest area) or you have exchanged caresses with the wives and then did not find water, then head for a wholesome upland (clean earth) and wipe over your faces and hands with it. God does not want to cause for you any awkwardness, but He wants to purify you and culminate His favor upon you that perhaps you may thank.
