Quote:
{5:90} O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than God], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful.
Excellent translation, but I'd phrase a bit differently,
{5:90} O you who have believed! Verily, intoxicants, effortless gain (gambling), [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than God], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that perhaps you may prosper.Quote:
{5:91} Satan only wants to cause between you animosity and hatred through intoxicants and gambling and to avert you from the remembrance of God and from prayer. So will you not desist?
Shouldn't the last sentence read, "So will you desist?" I suggest,
{5:91} Verily, Satan only wants to drop between you enmity and acrimony through intoxicants and effortless gain (gambling) and to shun you from the remembrance of God and from prayer. So, are you quitting?
