Quote:
{5:92} And obey God and obey the Messenger and beware. And if you turn away - then know that upon Our Messenger is only [the responsibility for] clear notification.
"Notification" is technically correct but falls short. The context here is one of warning. For such context, I've used "notice" before. So, I suggest,
{5:92} And obey God and obey the Messenger and beware. But if you have turned away - then know that upon Our Messenger is but [the responsibility for] clear notice.Quote:
{5:93} There is not upon those who believe and do righteousness [any] blame concerning what they have eaten [in the past] if they [now] fear God and believe and do righteous deeds, and then fear God and believe, and then fear God and do good; and God loves the doers of good.
The interjection "in the past" is an interpretation and I admit that this verse cannot be translated without some level of interpretation because of the apparent repetition of
آمنوا. Personally, I like Asad's translation best in which he interpreted the apparent repetition as maintenance of and growth in faith. I suggest,
{5:93} There is not upon those who have believed and did the righteous [deeds] [any] violation concerning what they have eaten when they have watched out [for God], believed and did the righteous [deeds], and then watched out and believed, and then watched out and did beautiful [deeds]; and God loves benefactors.
