Quote:
{5:94} O you who have believed, God will surely test you through something of the game that your hands and spears [can] reach, that God may make evident those who fear Him unseen. And whoever transgresses after that - for him is a painful punishment.

I suggest,
{5:94} O you who have believed, God will surely test you through something of game your hands and spears [can] reach, so that God may note those who fear Him unseen. Then, whoever has transgressed after that - then for him is a painful torment.

Quote:
{5:95} O you who have believed, do not kill game while you are in the state of ihram. And whoever of you kills it intentionally - the penalty is an equivalent from sacrificial animals to what he killed, as judged by two just men among you as an offering [to God] delivered to the Kaabah, or an expiation: the feeding of needy people or the equivalent of that in fasting, that he may taste the consequence of his deed. God has pardoned what is past; but whoever returns [to violation], then God will take retribution from him. And God is Exalted in Might and Owner of Retribution.

{5:96} Lawful to you is game from the sea and its food as provision for you and the travelers, but forbidden to you is game from the land as long as you are in the state of ihram. And fear God to whom you will be gathered.

Excellent translation but as always I like to explain transliterated words to the unfamiliar reader, so I'd add after "the state of ihram", "(ritual sanctity)".

I suggest,
{5:95} O you who have believed, do not kill game while you are ascetic (during ritual visits or pilgrimage). And whoever has killed it from among you, intentionally, then a recompense is the like of what he killed, from livestock, judging thereof shall be two [men] of fairness from among you as an offering [to God] reaching the Ka`ba (Shrine), or an expiation: the feeding of poor people or the equivalent of that in fasting, so that he may taste the consequence of his affair. God has pardoned what has preceded; but whoever has returned [to violation], then God takes retribution from him. And God is Almighty, having vengeance.

{5:96} Allowed for you is game of the sea and its food as convenience for you and the strollers (non-pilgrims), but forbidden to you is game from the shore (land) as long as you are ascetic. And watch out for God to whom you are [going to be] gathered.
