{5:101} O you who have believed, do not ask about things which, if they are shown to you, will distress you. But if you ask about them while the Quran is being revealed, they will be shown to you. God has pardoned that which is past; and God is Forgiving and Forbearing.
I suggest,
{5:101} O you who have believed, do not ask about things which, if they are shown to you (before a revelation), would displease you. But if you ask about them when the Quran is being revealed, they would [then] be explained to you. God has pardoned it (your prior asking); and God is much Forgiving, much Forbearing.Quote:
{5:102} A people asked such [questions] before you; then they became thereby disbelievers.
I strongly disagree with this translation. I see that only Sarwar got it right. The problem is that "then" is not causal; it's sequential. In other words, the folk who asked rejected the answer. It isn't that their asking made them disbelievers!
I suggest,
{5:102} A folk have already asked them (such questions) before you, but then they became thereof rejectors.
