Quote: {52:21} And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. I love the translation of رهين as "retained!" But I think that "bound" is easier to relate to. So, I suggest, {52:21} And those who have believed and whose offspring followed them with benevolence - We will join with them their offspring, and We will not have skimmed them of their work anything. Every person, by what he has earned, is bound. Quote: {52:22} And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. I suggest, {52:22} And We will supply them with fruit and meat out of whatever they covet. Quote: {52:23} They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. I find Abdul Majid Daryabadi's translation of يتنازعون as "to snatch from each other" to be the most accurate. I suggest, {52:23} They will snatch from each other a cup wherein there is no frivolity nor sinning. Quote: {52:24} There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. I suggest, {52:24} And will wait on them young servants of theirs, as though they were pearls safeguarded. |
