Quote:
{4:36} Worship God and associate nothing with Him, and to parents do good, and to relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbor, the neighbor farther away, the companion at your side, the traveler, and those whom your right hands possess. Indeed, God does not like those who are self-deluding and boastful.
"To associate with" is not a clear translation of
ولاتشركوا به. The Arabic phrase means "to not make partners with." When it is referring to God, it means to not associate anything with God
in worship.
I suggest,
{4:36} And worship God and do not associate with Him anything [in worship]. And to parents, [exercise] benevolence, and to relation of kin, orphans, the poor, the neighbor nearby, the neighbor farther away, the companion at [your] side, the road-bound, and those whom your right hands have possessed (slaves). Verily, God does not like him who has been vain, boastful.Quote:
{4:37} Who are stingy and enjoin upon [other] people stinginess and conceal what God has given them of His bounty - and We have prepared for the disbelievers a humiliating punishment -
I suggest,
{4:37} Who withhold and enjoin upon [other] people stinginess and suppress what God has granted them of His bounty. And We have readied for the disbelievers a humiliating torment -Quote:
{4:38} And [also] those who spend of their wealth to be seen by the people and believe not in God nor in the Last Day. And he to whom Satan is a companion - then evil is he as a companion.
I suggest,
{4:38} And [also] those who spend of their riches as show-off to people and do not believe in God nor in the Final Day. And he to whom Satan is a crony - then vile has been [such] a crony.
