Quote:
{46:21} And mention, [O Muhammad], the brother of `Aad, when he warned his people in the [region of] al-Ahqaf - and warners had already passed on before him and after him - [saying], "Do not worship except God. Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day."

I suggest,
{46:21} And mention [, O Muhammad,] the brother of `Aad, when he warned his people by the Sand Dunes - and warners had already passed on before him and after him - [saying], "Do not worship except God. Verily, I fear for you the torment of a tremendous day."

Quote:
{46:22} They said, "Have you come to delude us away from our gods? Then bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the truthful."

I suggest,
{46:22} They said, "Did you come to us to swindle us away from our gods? Then bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the truthful."

Quote:
{46:23} He said, "Knowledge [of its time] is only with God, and I convey to you that with which I was sent; but I see you [to be] a people behaving ignorantly."

I suggest,
{46:23} He said, "Verily, Knowledge is only with God, and I convey to you what I was sent with; but I see you [to be] a folk behaving ignorantly."

Quote:
{46:24} And when they saw it as a cloud approaching their valleys, they said, "This is a cloud bringing us rain!" Rather, it is that for which you were impatient: a wind, within it a painful punishment,

I suggest,
{46:24} And when they saw it as a wide cloud facing their valleys, they said, "This is a wide cloud raining [on] us!" Rather, it is what you hastened with: a wind in which is a painful torment,

Quote:
{46:25} Destroying everything by command of its Lord. And they became so that nothing was seen [of them] except their dwellings. Thus do We recompense the criminal people.

I suggest,
{46:25} Destroying everything by command of its Lord. And the morning came upon them such that nothing was seen but their dwellings. Thus do We recompense the criminal folk.

Quote:
{46:26} And We had certainly established them in such as We have not established you, and We made for them hearing and vision and hearts. But their hearing and vision and hearts availed them not from anything [of the punishment] when they were [continually] rejecting the signs of God; and they were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.

I suggest,
{46:26} And We had certainly established them in such as We have not established you, and We made for them hearing, sights and hearts. But their hearing, sights and hearts did not avail them from anything as they had been rejecting the signs of God; and fenced them in what they had been scoffing at.
