Quote:
{43:45} And ask those We sent before you of Our messengers; have We made besides the Beneficent deities to be worshipped?
I'd only correct the misspelling of "worshiped",
{43:45} And ask those We sent before you of Our messengers; have We made besides the Beneficent deities to be worshiped?Quote:
{43:46} And certainly did We send Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his establishment, and he said, "Indeed, I am the messenger of the Lord of the worlds."
I suggest,
{43:46} And certainly did We send Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his entourage, and he said, "Verily, I am the messenger of the Lord of the worlds."Quote:
{43:47} But when he brought them Our signs, at once they laughed at them.
I suggest,
{43:47} But when he brought them Our signs, all of a sudden they laughed at them.Quote:
{43:48} And We showed them not a sign except that it was greater than its sister, and We seized them with affliction that perhaps they might return [to faith].
I suggest,
{43:48} And We showed them not a sign but that it was greater than its sister, and We seized them with torment that perhaps they might return [to the truth].Quote:
{43:49} And they said [to Moses], "O magician, invoke for us your Lord by what He has promised you. Indeed, we will be guided."
This translation and all the others I read understood
عهد عندك to mean "promised you" or "pledged to you." That would be a translation of عاهدك. IMHO, the phrase means "the trust He has in you." I therefore suggest,
{43:49} And they said [to Moses], "O you magician, call for us to your Lord by what He entrusted to you. Verily, we surely are finding the way."Quote:
{43:50} But when We removed from them the affliction, at once they broke their word.
I suggest,
{43:50} But once We uncovered from them the torment, all of a sudden they renege.
