Quote: {3:146} And how many a prophet [fought and] with him fought many religious scholars. But they never lost assurance due to what afflicted them in the cause of God, nor did they weaken or submit. And God loves the steadfast. I find the translation "submit" to استكانوا to be erroneous. I suggest "resigned." |

{3:146} And how many a prophet fought alongside him many myriads. But they did not abate due to what hit them in the cause of God, did not weaken and did not resign. And God loves the steadfast. {3:147} And was not their uttering but that they said, "Our Lord, forgive us our sins and our excessiveness in our affairs, plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving folk." {3:148} So God granted them the reward of [this] the nearest [life] and the good reward of the Hereafter. And God loves benefactors. |
