Quote:
{3:159} So by mercy from God, [O Muhammad], you were lenient with them. And if you had been rude [in speech] and harsh in heart, they would have disbanded from about you. So pardon them and ask forgiveness for them and consult them in the matter. And when you have decided, then rely upon God. Indeed, God loves those who rely [upon Him].
Excellent translation. I'd only translate the last sentence closer to the Arabic as such, "Verily, God loves the trusting [in Him]."
Quote:
{3:160} If God should aid you, no one can overcome you; but if He should forsake you, who is there that can aid you after Him? And upon God let the believers rely.
Instead of "aid", I'd use "help." "Aid" translates
أيد better. As you may have noticed, it is the origin of it!
{3:160} If God helps you, then there is no defeating you; but if He should forsake you, then who is that who [can] help you after Him? And upon God let rely the believers.
