{3:169} And never you reckon those who have been killed in the cause of God as dead. Rather, [they are] alive with their Lord, provided for,

{3:170} Rejoicing in what God has bestowed upon them of His bounty, and they receive good tidings about those [to be martyred] after them who have not yet joined them - that there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.

I'd replace the italicized phrase differently to be closer to the Arabic, i.e., simply, "left behind."

I suggest,
{3:170} Rejoicing in what God has granted them of His bounty, and expecting glad tidings about those who have not [yet] joined them, left behind - that there shall be no fear concerning them, nor shall they grieve.

I suggest,
{3:171} Anticipating glad tidings of favor from God and bounty and that God does not waste the reward of the faithful -
