I love Asad's translation of كاظمين as "choking." I suggest,
{40:18} And warn them, [O Muhammad], of the Day of the Fast-Approaching [Event], when hearts are at the throats, choking. For the wrongdoers there will be no close friend nor a mediator obeyed.

Quote:
{40:19} He knows that which deceives the eyes and what the breasts conceal.

I suggest,
{40:19} He knows what is surreptitious to the eyes and what the bosoms conceal.

Quote:
{40:20} And God judges with truth, while those they invoke besides Him judge not with anything. Indeed, God - He is the Hearing, the Seeing.

I suggest,
{40:20} And God judges with the truth, while those they invoke besides Him do not judge with anything. Verily, God is He who is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.
