Quote:
{34:18} And We placed between them and the cities which We had blessed [many] visible cities. And We determined between them the [distances of] journey, [saying], "Travel between them by night or day in safety."

I suggest,
{34:18} And We set up between them and the towns, inside which We had blessed, [many] visible towns. And We designed between them the [distances of] walking, [saying], "Walk between them nights and days safely."

Quote:
{34:19} But [insolently] they said, "Our Lord, lengthen the distance between our journeys," and wronged themselves, so We made them narrations and dispersed them in total dispersion. Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful.

I suggest,
{34:19} But they said, "Our Lord, make our travels farther apart," and wronged themselves, so We made them tales and tore them apart every which torn. Indeed in that are signs for everyone [very] patient, [much] thankful.

Quote:
{34:20} And Iblees had already confirmed through them his assumption, so they followed him, except for a party of believers.

I suggest,
{34:20} And Iblees (the devil) had certainly confirmed through them his assumption, so they followed him, except for a party of believers.

Quote:
{34:21} And he had over them no authority except [it was decreed] that We might make evident who believes in the Hereafter from who is thereof in doubt. And your Lord, over all things, is Guardian.

I suggest,
{34:21} And he had over them no authority except so that We may note whom believes in the Hereafter from whom is thereof in doubt. And your Lord, over everything, is [careful] Guardian.
