Quote:
{2:49} And [recall] when We saved your forefathers from the people of Pharaoh, who afflicted you with the worst torment, slaughtering your [newborn] sons and keeping your females alive. And in that was a great trial from your Lord.

"your forefathers" was not mentioned in the Arabic, so at best it should be an interjection, i.e., "We saved [your forefathers]..."

Quote:
{2:52} Then We forgave you after that so perhaps you would be grateful.

"Grateful" is a good translation, but "thankful" is closer to the Arabic word.

I suggest,

{2:49} And [recall] as We rescued you from the house of Pharaoh, [who were] afflicting you with the nastiness of torment: killing your sons and sparing the lives of your women. And in that for you is a trial from your Lord - tremendous.

{2:50} And [recall] as We parted with you the sea, then rescued you and drowned the house of Pharaoh while you were looking [on].

{2:51} And [recall] as We appointed for Moses forty nights. Then you took for yourselves [for worship] the calf after him, and you are wrongdoers.

{2:52} And then We pardoned you after that so perhaps you may thank.
