Quote:
{2:75} Do you covet [the hope, O believers], that they would believe for you while a party of them used to hear the words of God and then distort the Torah after they had understood it while they were knowing?

The interjection is unnecessary. Also, "the Torah" has been added and it is not in the Arabic verse. Inspired by the alternative translations, I suggest:

{2:75} Can you then hope that they will believe with you while a party of them used to hear the words of God and then knowingly distort it after they had understood it?

Quote:
{2:77} But do they not know that God knows what they conceal and what they declare?

I'd remove "But."

I agree on both counts.

I suggest,

{2:75} Do you then fancy that they [may] believe with you while a team of them used to hear the speech of God and then alter it after they had comprehended it, while they know [it]?

{2:76} And when they have encountered those who have believed, they would say, "We have believed"; but when they have become alone with one another, they would say, "Do you tell them of what God has disclosed to you so that they may rebut you with it before your Lord?" Do you not then reason?

{2:77} And do they not know that God knows what they conceal and what they declare?
