Quote:
{2:153} O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, God is with the patient.

I suggest,
{2:153} O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Verily, God is with the patient.

Quote:
{2:154} And do not say about those who are killed in the way of God, "They are dead." Rather, they are alive, but you perceive [it] not.

I love the translation of تشعرون as "to perceive!" I'd only use modern English syntax and say "but you do not perceive [it]." I suggest,

{2:154} And do not say about those who are killed in the way of God, "Dead." Rather, they are alive, but you do not perceive [it].

Quote:
{2:155} And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient,

It's better English not to repeat "and," so I'd translate the above verse,

{2:155} And We will surely test you with a bit of fear and hunger, and a reduction of wealth, lives and fruits, but herald glad tidings to the patient,

Quote:
{2:156} Who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to God, and indeed to Him we will return."

I suggest,
{2:156} Who, when has hit them a disaster, they would say, "Verily, we belong to God, and verily to Him we are returning."

Quote:
{2:157} Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided.

The interjection "rightly" is redundant. I suggest,
{2:157} Those - upon them are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the guided.
