Quote:
{2:197} Hajj is [during] well-known months, so whoever has made hajj obligatory upon himself therein [by entering the state of ihram], there is [to be for him] no sexual relations and no disobedience and no disputing during hajj. And whatever good you do - God knows it. And take provisions, but indeed, the best provision is fear of God. And fear Me, O you of understanding.

I suggest,
{2:197} Pilgrimage is [during] known months, so whoever has committed therein to pilgrimage, there is [to be for him] no mating, nor disobedience nor arguing during the pilgrimage. And whatever you do of good - God knows it. And take supplies, but verily, the best supply is watchfulness [of God]. And be watchful of Me, O you with understanding minds.

Quote:
{2:198} There is no blame upon you for seeking bounty from your Lord [during hajj]. But when you depart from `Arafat, remember God at al-Mashaar al-Haram. And remember Him, as He has guided you, for indeed, you were before that among those astray.

I suggest,

{2:198} It is not a violation from you that you seek bounty from your Lord [during the pilgrimage]. But when you emerge from [the area of] `Arafaat, then remember God at The Sacrosanct Symbol. And remember Him, as He has guided you, for verily, you were before that surely among the strays.

Quote:
{2:199} Then depart from the place from where [all] the people depart and ask forgiveness of God. Indeed, God is Forgiving and Merciful.

I suggest,
{2:199} Then emerge out from where people have emerged and ask forgiveness of God. Verily, God is much Forgiving and Merciful.

Disobedience doesn't quite capture the meaning.

You're right. I suggested "deviance" before. How about that? Or "loose behavior?"

Deviance is perfect (the word that is, not the behavior :D).

OK, so I suggest,

{2:197} Pilgrimage is [during] known months, so whoever has committed therein to pilgrimage, there is [to be for him] no mating, nor deviance nor arguing during the pilgrimage. And whatever you do of good - God knows it. And take supplies, but verily, the best supply is watchfulness [of God]. And be watchful of Me, O you with intellects.
