Quote:
{2:231} And when you divorce women and they have [nearly] fulfilled their term, either retain them according to acceptable terms or release them according to acceptable terms, and do not keep them, intending harm, to transgress [against them]. And whoever does that has certainly wronged himself. And do not take the verses of God in jest. And remember the favor of God upon you and what has been revealed to you of the Book and wisdom by which He instructs you. And fear God and know that God is Knowing of all things.

{2:232} And when you divorce women and they have fulfilled their term, do not prevent them from remarrying their [former] husbands if they agree among themselves on an acceptable basis. That is instructed to whoever of you believes in God and the Last Day. That is better for you and purer, and God knows and you know not.

"Their term" needs explanation. I suggest "(grace) period."
I'd leave out the interjection "against them."
I suggest, "God is of everything Aware" instead of "God is Knowing of all things" to match the Arabic more closely.
Finally, I'd say "marrying" instead of "remarrying." "Remarrying" is redundant once we use the interjection "former".

To put it together,

{2:231} And when you have divorced women and they have reached their (grace) period, then retain them with virtue or release them with virtue, and do not hold them, with malice, to transgress. And whoever does that has certainly wronged himself. And do not take the verses of God in jest. And remember the favor of God upon you and what He has sent down to you of the Book and wisdom advising you with. And watch out for God and know that God is of everything Knowledgeable.

{2:232} And when you have divorced women and they have reached their (grace) period, then do not make it difficult for them to marry their (former) husbands if they have agreed among themselves properly. With that is advised whomever of you has been believing in God and the Final Day. That is better for you and purer, and God knows and you do not know.

Grace period is a good translation, but here is a dilemma. If you say "(grace) period" with parentheses (or should that be brackets :D), the connotation of period by itself as related to the monthly period for women comes in. I would just say "grace period" since it is a valid translation in its entirety of the Arabic word.

I had the same thought. How about,

{2:231} And when you have divorced women and they have reached their term (grace period), then retain them with virtue or release them with virtue, and do not hold them, with malice, to transgress. And whoever does that has certainly wronged himself. And do not take the verses of God in jest. And remember the favor of God upon you and what He has sent down to you of the Book and wisdom advising you with. And watch out for God and know that God is of everything All-Knowing.

{2:232} And when you have divorced women and they have reached their term (grace period), then do not constrict them that they marry their (former) husbands if they have agreed among themselves properly. With that is advised whomever of you has been believing in God and the Final Day. That is better for you and purer, and God knows and you do not know.
