Quote:
{29:33} And when Our messengers came to Lot, he was distressed for them and felt for them great discomfort. They said, "Fear not, nor grieve. Indeed, we will save you and your family, except your wife; she is to be of those who remain behind.
Lot was actually distressed by them, not for them, as the word
بِهم clearly means. The reason is that he knew what would happen next, as elaborated elsewhere in the Quran. I suggest,
{29:33} And when Our messengers came to Lot, he was distressed by them and felt restrained by them (felt discomfort). They said, "Do not fear, nor grieve. Indeed, we are saving you and your family, except your wife; she is to be of those who remain behind."Quote:
{29:34} Indeed, we will bring down on the people of this city punishment from the sky because they have been defiantly disobedient."
I suggest,
{29:34} "Verily, we are bringing down on the people of this town an infliction from the sky because they have been deviating."
