Quote:
{21:40} Rather, it will come to them unexpectedly and bewilder them, and they will not be able to repel it, nor will they be reprieved.

{21:41} And already were messengers ridiculed before you, but those who mocked them were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.

I love that translation :)

Quote:
{21:39} If those who disbelieved but knew the time when they will not avert the Fire from their faces or from their backs and they will not be aided...

Is this a conditional? The verb does not have sokoon.

I went to my trusty grammar book and found that لو does not render the conditional verb jussive. Also learned that the response verb will be emphasized with a lam if the condition verb was past tense, but will be negated if the condition verb was present tense. Fascinating.

Examples: لو صلح إيمانه لصلح عمله and لو يجتهد التلميذ لم يرسب

I'm now not sure that's a hard and fast rule, because
