Quote:
{17:85} And they ask you, [O Muhammad], about the soul. Say, "The soul is of the affair of my Lord. And mankind have not been given of knowledge except a little."

The Arabic does not say "mankind," it says "you all." I suggest,
{17:85} And they ask you about the soul. Say, "The soul is of the affair of my Lord; and you have not been given of knowledge but a little."

I believe the last sentence is part of the quoted reply, evidenced by the fact that there is no punctuation mark before it in the Arabic.

Quote:
{17:86} And if We willed, We could surely do away with that which We revealed to you. Then you would not find for yourself concerning it an advocate against Us.

I'd rather keep the order of words as in the Arabic, so let me try:
{17:86} And if We willed, We would surely take away what We revealed to you. Then you would not find for yourself, concerning it, against Us an advocate.

Quote:
{17:87} Except [We have left it with you] as a mercy from your Lord. Indeed, His favor upon you has ever been great.

Excellent translation. I'd only replace "great" with "big",
{17:87} Except [We have left it with you] as a mercy from your Lord. Indeed, His favor upon you has ever been big.
