Quote:
{17:101} And We had certainly given Moses nine evident signs, so ask the Children of Israel [about] when he came to them and Pharaoh said to him, "Indeed I think, O Moses, that you are affected by magic."
I suggest a minor change,
{17:101} And We had certainly given Moses nine evident signs, so ask the Children of Israel [about] when he came to them and Pharaoh said to him, "Indeed I think, O Moses, that you are bewitched."Quote:
{17:103} So he intended to drive them from the land, but We drowned him and those with him all together.
I'd only change "intended" to "
wanted",
{17:103} So he wanted to harass them away from the land, but We drowned him and those with him all together.Quote:
{17:104} And We said after Pharaoh to the Children of Israel, "Dwell in the land, and when there comes the promise of the Hereafter, We will bring you forth in [one] gathering."
The interpretation of
الآخرة as "The Hereafter" may be justified by the usual meaning of the word, but I clearly read it as referring to the same event mentioned in the beginning of the Chapter, also referred to as
الآخرة,
[God speaking to the Children of Israel,] "If you do good, you do good for yourselves; and if you do evil, [you do it] to yourselves." Then when comes the [time of] promise of the latter [decree], [We would send your enemies] to defile your faces, enter the temple, as they entered it the first time, and decimate whatever they prevail over a [total] decimation." That is, the second decree upon the Children of Israel. So, I suggest,
{17:104} And We said after him (Pharaoh) to the Children of Israel, "Dwell in the land, and when there comes the promise of the latter [decree], We will bring you forth in [one] gathering."
