I suggest,

{16:56} And they assign to what they do not know a portion of what We have provided them. By God, you are surely to be questioned about what you have been concocting.

{16:57} And they attribute to God daughters - sanctified is He - and to them what they covet.

{16:58} And whenever one of them has been heralded the glad tidings of [the birth of] a female, his face stayed blackening while he is suppressing [grief].

{16:59} He hides himself out from the folk out of the ill of the glad tidings he was heralded; should he hold on to it in humiliation or bury it in the dust? Lo! How evil what they decide!
