Quote:
{16:112} And God presents an example: a city which was safe and secure, its provision coming to it in abundance from every location, but it denied the favors of God. So God made it taste the envelopment of hunger and fear for what they had been doing.
I love Irving's translation of
لباس as "pall." suggest,
{16:112} And God has struck a parable: a town which was safe, tranquil, its provision coming to it opulently from every place, then it became ungrateful for the favors of God. So God made it taste the pall of hunger and fear for what they had been making.Quote:
{16:113} And there had certainly come to them a Messenger from among themselves, but they denied him; so punishment overtook them while they were wrongdoers.
I suggest,
{16:113} And certainly did come to them a Messenger from among themselves, but they belied him; so betook them the torment as they were wrongdoers.
