Abu-Bakr Al-Hamdaani, in his book الاعتبار في الناسخ والمنسوخ من القرآن, page 23, quotes Abush-Shaykh Al-Haafizh stating that the Sunna abrogated
He says that the Prophet
canceled the requirement of paying back the dowry of wives who fled Mecca, left their disbelieving husbands, migrated to Medina, became Muslim and married a Muslim! He did not quote any hadeeth to back up this outrageous claim.
Then he went on to say a horrible sentence: "
and the ruling of the Quran was dropped!" I could not believe my eyes when I read it. I can't fathom a Muslim scholar uttering these words, let alone writing them down in a permanent record against him. I expected Al-Hamdaani to at least absolve himself from such nonsense.
