{107:5} [But] who are heedless of their prayer -

I suggest,
{107:5} [But] who are distracted from their prayer,

Quote:
{107:6} Those who make show [of their deeds]

I suggest,
{107:6} Those who show off,

Quote:
{107:7} And withhold [simple] assistance.

I suggest,
{107:7} And prevent care.

I like "heedless" because it conveys the meaning of not living up to the spirit of the prayers. Using "distract" conveys a meaning of just not being regular in prayers.

Totally agree.

I think assistance is closer than care to the Arabic word, but I don't know where the "simple" came from in the original translation.

I see your point, but "heedless" translates غافلون. How about:

{107:5} Those who to their prayer are unattentive.

Linguistically it means the slightest help, so how about:

{107:7} And prevent the slightest aid.
