Quote:
{105:1} Have you not considered, [O Muhammad], how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant?

Since the prophet, peace be upon him, was not present when the event of the attack of the Abyssinian warrior Abraha against the Ka`ba shrine in Mecca, to which this verse refers, this rhetorical question is addressed to everybody, hence no need for the interjection singling out the prophet.

I suggest,
{105:1} Did you not see how your Lord did to the companions of the elephant?

Quote:
{105:2} Did He not make their plan into misguidance?

I suggest,
{105:2} Did He not turn their plan into haplessness?

Agreed. BTW, this was my favorite chapter when I was a child.

Perhaps "plot" instead of "plan"?

"Plot" would be good too.

I checked "hapless" and it's a bit off. I suggest.
{105:2} Did He not make their plot into misguidance

Well, the meaning in the verse is "shattered plan". "Misguidance" implies getting lost. How about,
{105:2} Did He not cause their plot to be in vain?
or
{105:2} Did He not make their plot into a roaming?

I like "in vain." To make things closer to the Arabic text, I suggest.
{105:2} Did He not make their plotting in vain

I suggest a very minor change to the translation of 105:5 because it starts with the consequential conjunction فـ,

{105:5} Then made them like eaten straw.
