Quote:
{3:28} Let not believers take disbelievers as allies rather than believers. And whoever [of you] does that has nothing with God, except when taking precaution against them in prudence. And God warns you of Himself, and to God is the [final] destination.
This translation is good, because it caught the meaning of
تتقوا منهم, which is misunderstood by too many people, non-Muslims and Muslims alike. This verse does not permit alliance with non-believers as a way of cajoling them. It permits alliance with non-believers on the condition that Muslims stay alert to any treachery coming from the disbelievers. The prohibition in the beginning of the verse is from setting aside fellow believers as allies and preferring non-believers. Therefore, this verse is saying that believers should take for allies fellow believers, but if not possible they may take non-believers as allies as long as they keep an eye on them. So, I suggest this for a translation:
{3:28} Believers shall not take for themselves disbelievers as allies rather than [fellow] believers. And whoever does that is not of God at all, unless you watch out of them quite a lookout. And God cautions you of Himself, and to God is the destination.Quote:
{3:29} Say, "Whether you conceal what is in your breasts or reveal it, God knows it. And He knows that which is in the heavens and that which is on the earth. And God is over all things competent.
I suggest,
{3:29} Say, "If you conceal what is in your bosoms or expose it, God knows it. And He knows what is in the heavens and what is in the earth. And God is over everything Powerful."Quote:
{3:30} The Day every soul will find what it has done of good present [before it] and what it has done of evil, it will wish that between itself and that [evil] was a great distance. And God warns you of Himself, and God is Kind to [His] servants."
I suggest,
{3:30} [Judgment Day is] the Day every soul finds what it has done of good present [before it] and what it has done of evil, it wishes that between itself and that [evil] was a far terminus. And God cautions you of Himself, and God is Kind to the worshipers."
